Jakarta, 18 December 2017Indonesia Young Fashion Designer Competition (IYFDC), presented by Indonesia Fashion Week is a competition for young designers of Indonesia. The event aims to seek new talents who are not only creative and innovative but also creative in the business sense.

Tokopedia, one of the online shopping centers in Indonesia, with its marketplace business
model, allows any individual, small shop and brand to open and manage an online shop.
Offering millions of products, among which are fashion and accessories, Tokopedia is
constantly supporting the growth of the creative industry in Indonesia, one of which is
Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2018.

The mission of Tokopedia is to bring about economic equality digitally. Tokopedia wants to empower any individual to start and develop a business without having to move to a bigger city, while at the same time ensuring that many can obtain products with the same quality as those sold in big cities.

This is in line with the vision of Indonesia Fashion Designers Association which is presented through one of its activities, the Indonesia Fashion Week, the event of which always synergizes and cooperates with the Small Medium and Micro Entrepreneurs through
Indonesian fashion designers to enable the industry to continuously grow and become
independent.

That is why Tokopedia hopes that the creations produced by the local designers can reach
more Indonesians through its digital platform and together, they can make their dreams
come true, starting from Tokopedia.

As many as 29 participants entering the semifinals have been chosen from a total of 205
participants who have registered for the IYFDC 2018 on 5 December 2017. They are
required to come to Jakarta to present their creations in the second phase of judging.

The panel of judges consisting of Harry Ibrahim, Misan Kopaka and Ai Syarief, is today making their selections by paying attention to the details and the criteria such as the concept used to create the ready to wear clothes, alignment to the Cultural Identity theme, innovative design, application of the cultural values and local heritage as well as the wearable and saleable qualities of their designs.

JAKARTA – Sharia Muslim-wear has found greater favor in society. There are now plenty of styles to choose from, they are fashionable without straying away from sharia tenets. Look at OSD, Yunia Syar’i, Mayra, Ulya Hijab, and Jawhara Syar’i that will present their collections at IFW 2017.
OSD’s Bhinneka of Syar’i collection will be presented on the third day of IFW 2017. Inspired by our country’s motto, Bhineka Tunggal Ika, or Unity in Diversity, OSD also tries to capture the same spirit through its collection. There are so many styles of hijab, but they exist for the same reason—so women can dress according to sharia tenets.

This tenet prescribes modesty by covering up the body with fabric that is neither too thin nor too tight. For 2017, @osd offers khimar syar’i in a variety of models and shades of pastel to cut through the monotony. OSD collection can be worn to all sorts of events, while maintaining a woman’s proud identity as a Muslimah.
Another sharia Muslim-wear designer is Yuyun Yuniati. Her fashion line, Yunia Syar’i presents its Voyage collection at IFW, presenting pieces created using ceruti chiffon fabric with brocade and appliques like Swarovski crystals, embroidery, and gold tones. The collection also includes menswear pieces.
The theme, voyage, is selected to represent the designer’s own life’s journey. Beginning with a small dot of desire, it grows into a polka dot pattern that becomes a long line, symbolizing her journey. Yunia Syar’i 2017 is replete in the color blue—representing a philosophical evolution from black to white, a symbol of purity, optimism, and passion.
Unlike any other, Mayra has chosen bright colors—yellows, creams, and olive green. Sixteen pieces makeup Mayra’s Ujala collection, meaning the light of the universe. These elegant sharia gowns are created using lightweight materials, such as crepe and ceruti, to make every piece airy and graceful.
There is also Jawhara with its beautiful, unique and innovative collection. All of these designers hope that sharia fashion will pique the public’s interest at home and abroad, while allowing Muslims to follow sharia tenets (kaffah) without sacrificing fashion.

JAKARTA –Irma Lumiga is a formidable Indonesian designer who have been in the business for 17 years, so she is definitely very well-informed about fashion on a wider context.
Irma Luminga at Indonesia Fashion Week 2017, 1 to 5 February 2017 at Jakarta Convention Center, hopes to use the stage to promote the development of tourism and culture in Banyuwangi, especially its batik and fashion products.
It is a great honor for Irma Luminga to receive the support of the Regent of Banyuwangi Mr. Abdullah Azwar Anas, M.Si, to participate in Indonesia Fashion Week following her success at Banyuwangi Batik Festival in 2014 and 2015.

Fashion Show Irma Lumiga Sekar Jagad

This time, Irma Luminga presents the theme “Sekar Jagad Banyuwangi”. Sekar Jagadcomes from the Javanese words (Se=one; Kar=map; jagad=world) meaning a map of the world, and it refers to the diversity found in Banyuwangi and around the world. Sekar also means flower, thus reflecting the beauty and wonder that it exudes out to the world.
For the show, Irma Luminga has prepared 71 Batik-based pieces, consisting of ready-to-wear kebaya and haute couture. She has brought the best models from Banyuwangi to show off her designs and 30 gandrung dancers who will help make the event truly a celebration of culture.

Fashion Show Irma Lumiga Sekar Jagad

This fashion show will be held at Jakarta Convention Center, on 4 February 2017, 4 pm. For her show, Irma Lumiga has collaborated with Banyuwangi-based SMEs and batik craftsworkers, as well as the shoes and bags designer KOVS.
Irma Lumiga hopes that IFW will grow from strength to strength. To prepare her collection for IFW, Irma actually conducted thorough research and cost analysis regarding Banyuwangi batik and its development.
“Fashion is about eyes and transformation, and batik is about legend and heritage, if you put them together than you can make a beautiful masterpiece,” Irma said.

JAKARTA – The festivities of Indonesia Fashion Week (IFW) 2017 reaches new heights with Sienta Pop Up Playground, right in the middle of the largest Indonesian fashion event at the beginning of the year.
With the theme Sienta Unlock Your Playground, at IFW 2017, 1-5 February at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan Jakarta, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) has collaborated with some of Indonesia’s foremost fashion talents to showcase their collections that reflect the stylish and modern characteristics of the Sienta, as Toyota’s latest Multi Activity Vehicle.

“Bringing the All New Toyota Sienta to Indonesia’s largest fashion event is consistent with Sienta’s flexible character, which can accommodate the consumer’s various activities without compromising style and modern designs, much like the clothes that have been designed by five of Indonesia’s best designers,” said Vice President Director PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) Henry Tanoto, when interviewed at Indonesia Fashion Week 2017, Plenary Hall, JCC, Jakarta.

Sienta Pop Up Playground at Indonesia Fashion Week 2017, does not only present collections from five of today’s brightest Indonesian fashion designers—Yosep Sinudarsono, Ardistia New York, Hartono Gan, Mety Choa and Rika Mulle—but also talk shows on lifestyle development with Hanifa Ambadar dan Merry Riana.
At the “Fashionable with Toyota Sienta” talkshow are two women will share their experience driving with Sienta, especially its comfort and full array of features. Visitors—especially women—can learn more about Sienta as an easy-to-use car that is suitable for various activities by urban women today.

“It is very suitable for active urban women. It is not only safe and comfortable, but also easy to use. Toyota’s new MAV has a modern design with innovative features to support urban activities. As it takes into account the latest trend, it really has a complete selling point,” Henry elaborated.
Toyota Sienta at this bona-fide fashion event is part of Toyota Let’s Go Beyond program that presents modern products to meet the needs and lifestyle of Indonesia’s consumers. As a Multi Activity Vehicle, it has a stylish exterior design with features that allow Sienta to fit into the increasingly-dynamic urban lifestyle.

“Similar to how local designers have imbued unique accents into their designs, we can tailor the Sienta to meet the needs of the Indonesian consumer market,” Said Henry.
As we know, Toyota Sienta’s ground clearance for the Indonesian market is 25 mm higher than for the Japanese market, so you can travel anywhere with a peace of mind.
Meanwhile, dive-in seat—foldable seat—gives ample space at the back of the car to bring all the items one might need to go about their daily activities.
“We wish to address the urban lifestyle and needs through Sienta Pop Up Playground, a program that TAM has run for a year now. Previously, we have previously done other Sienta Pop Up Playground events inspired by urban lifestyle choices like Zumba, Yoga, Fun Bike, Dog’s Day Out, and of course Fashion,” said Henry.

JAKARTA – These days, people also look to Indonesia as one of the global fashion benchmarks. Indonesia is enjoying a boom in clothing line businesses and it has produced many top-notch international designers. Many Indonesian celebrities are also looking to expand into the fashion business, including Jessica Iskandar.

Jessica Iskandar first rose to fame with her starring role in Dealova, which she followed up with a successful career as a television presenter. Having cut her teeth in the entertainment industry, Jessica is now trying her hand in the fashion world, too. JD by Jessica Iskandar has good name brand recognition among the younger set.

Working with PT. Buana Lautan Mas, Jessica has complete control over design and material choices, production and distribution. Ramayana Department Store, one of the largest Department stores in Indonesia with 150 stores across 50 cities in Indonesia, is Jessica’s main distribution channel, allowing the brand to reach a wider audience. JD can be purchased at this department store chain. Ramayana, with its wide customer base, shares the same vision as PT. Buana Lautan Mas (as the company that develops JD by Jessica Iskandar), that is to provide affordable fashion products that are high quality, fashionable and up-to-date. JD by Jessica Iskandar can also be purchased online via instagram (@jedarindonesia) or through its website (jedar.co.id).

Jessica Iskandar is widely known as a fashionable, beautiful, and shrewd single mother with a great sense of mix-and-match fashion, which inspires her to start her JD brand. The line itself reflects Jessica Iskandar’s personality and character—simple, beautiful but still fashionable. She is a style role model for many young women in Indonesia—from teenagers to young mothers who care about their way of dressing.

Jessica Iskandar received the Hot Mama Tersilet Award 2016, further cementing JD as a competitive fashion brand in Indonesia.

At Indonesia Fashion Week 2017, the largest fashion event in Indonesia, JD has the opportunity take the runway alongside other fashion brands. It hopes to become even more recognized as a trendsetter in the Indonesian fashion industry.

Occupying one of IFW2017’s prime slots, Jessica Iskandar is not alone on the runway. She collaborates with her friends—A2T by Ayu Tingting, RA Jeans by Raffi Ahmad, and RA Hijab by Mamah Amy—to make IFW 2017 more festive.

Jessica Iskandar has great faith in her new fashion business. With her good public reputation, JD brand easily becomes well known in Indonesia, and a fashion inspiration for young women.
